Hello and welcome! This is my first blog post on my new site, and I've got so many ideas I don't know where to start! This website is designed to showcase my writing and editing abilities, and I look forward to dazzling my readers with my prowess as time goes on ;-) but for now, a few thoughts on life in general to get us started. Tomorrow the United States will inaugurate its next president, Barack Obama. Not being American, I had no real say in the result, but along with the rest of the world have watched with bated breath to witness the outcome. Regardless of how this administration plays out -- there is no way he can make everyone happy -- I think the choice of a young, consensus-building open-minded man (yes, man!) as the next US president is an inspiring choice, be you a US citizen or not. I can't imagine facing the challenges Barack Obama faces, but I salute him for his courage and idealism (and pragmatism) and look forward to witnessing him take on the nation's worst job.On a local note, Vancouver has been shrouded in fog for the past few days. While there are some who quite enjoy this weather, I for one am ready for some sunshine. It's exciting to have my own site -- I'd like to thank Eric Sloan for his fantastic design and his patience with my nitpicking (you're the best!), and I look forward to a long and happy blogging career. Stay tuned for more, coming very soon to a johannaward.com blog post near you!
